March 25 - September 25, 2005

Artists: Herbert Brandl, Formation ohne Name, Edwina Hörl, Edgar Honetschläger

The 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan, was a resounding success for Austria. The Austrian Expo project and Pavilion, designed by Trecolore Architects, was visited by 1,768,562 visitors, making it one of the most heavily frequented national presentations of the Expo. Austria offered an intense cultural program featuring the world premiere of an electronic music composition by Formation ohne Name, a fashion intervention by Edwina Hörl, the exhibition Wisdom of Nature and a monumental wall painting by Herbert Brandl. The pavilion also served as a “chicken catwalk” for the hilarious multimedia performance by renowned filmmaker and artist Edgar Honetschläger. Austria’s Expo presence was directed by Robert Punkenhofer on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
