New York, March 7 – 10, 2003

Artists: Solange Fabião, Emiko Kasahara, Miguel Monroy

Simultaneously with The Armory Show presenting the latest trends in contemporary art, the low-budget, high energy SCOPE Art Fair New York 2003 took place at the Dylan Hotel, an elegant, recently renovated hotel in midtown Manhattan. The seven thousand five hundred visitors who attended were rewarded with riskier art and greater flexibility in its display than The Armory Show provided. Works of art were exhibited in six floors of hotel rooms – on the walls, laid out on beds, in the bathrooms, no space was unsuitable for exhibition. Forty-nine galleries, non-profit institutions, and independent curators participated in SCOPE. Art&Idea featured diverse works by Solange Fabião, Miguel Monroy and Emiko Kasahara, who wove false eyelashes through paper in intricate geometric patterns.
