Artists: Máximo González and Diego Teo

During the SCOPE Art Fair New York 2005, held at the Flatotel Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, more than eight thousand people visited seventy-five exhibitions on six floors. Art&Idea was present with an exhibition of works by Máximo González and Diego Teo. Teo’s collages and sculptures of found objects create an unexpected awareness of familiar things. González installed personal items in the bathroom of Art&Idea’s space, made of folded and woven bank notes of different currencies, such as thong underwear, pantyhose and similar pieces. His work constantly questions the idea of the inherent value of these pieces of paper and, in doing so, challenges the systems of capital exchange that produced them.
